The 2018 Washington, DC Experience
Twenty-six members of the 2018 SLI cohort set off for the annual leadership program capstone, The Washington, D.C. Experience, on May 20, 2018. The five day/four night leadership experience required them to be actively engaged in many leadership roles in a large group setting, in small groups, and for their individual reflections.
This year, the student leaders experienced Arlington National Cemetery, the Newseum, Ford's Theatre and Museum, a tour of the US Capitol, and more. Throughout the week, the group heard from Leaders of Leaders Congressman Lloyd Doggett, Congressman Will Hurd, and representatives from the Department of Education.
SLI students and team members spent an evening at the Harman Center for the Arts viewing Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of "Camelot", a first for many students.
